Integrative medicine is an approach to wellness that combines: Conventional (traditional Western) medicine, which includes drugs, surgery, and lifestyle changes. With Complementary medicine and therapies that are not part of conventional Western medicine. Care may consist of chiropractic therapy, yoga, meditation, and more. Integrative medicine can help people with cancer, persistent pain, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and many other conditions better manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life by reducing fatigue, pain, and anxiety.

His presentation will be on “Integrative Health for South Asian: How to Apply Yoga and Ayurveda in the Modern Era.”
Dr. Gurjeet Birdee, M.D., M.P.H., is a physician-scientist who has researched the evidence of integrative therapies for over a decade. Dr. Birdee is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He completed a clinical research fellow in Integrative Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Currently is an Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he is the Director of the Osher Center for Integrative Health. His research has been funded by the National Institute of Health, which has focused on the clinical efficacy and mechanisms of integrative modalities. Dr. Birdee provides consultations to patients on integrative health and yoga therapy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for children and adults.
